This Week in the Missouri Senate for Jan. 24, 2014: Committee Hearings

Jefferson CityThis Week in the Missouri Senate reviews: 

·       The Senate Appropriations Committee hears an overview of the governor’s Fiscal Year 2015 budget recommendations (Audio: Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, and Sen. Shalonn “Kiki” Curls, D-Kansas City);

·       The Senate Ways and Means Committee considers Senate Bill 496, now combined with Senate Bill 509, which would create an individual income tax deduction for business income and phase it in over a period of five years (Audio: Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale, and Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City);

·       The Senate General Laws Committee hears Senate Bill 613, which would modify provisions relating to firearms (Audio: Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington);

·       Senate Concurrent Resolution 24 encourages the State Board of Education to take certain actions to address struggling school districts (Audio: Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Independence); and

·       The Senate Education Committee hears five proposals, each dealing with school transfers.
